April 2020 update – a “new normal”

OCanFilmFest2020 Ottawa Canadian Film Festival

Hello filmmakers & film fans.

These are unprecedented times. On behalf of the OCanFilmFest board, I hope this update finds you safe, in good health, and settling into this “new normal”.

Our board continues to meet and collaborate virtually and are committed to our mission–to promote Canadian films and to support Canadian filmmakers.

Submissions continue to come in from all over the country and we plan to continue through our published deadlines and the jury process for the 2020 festival.

The jury process, just like in previous years, is carried out through online collaboration and the FilmFreeway platform allows our jury to view the submissions remotely.

We are excited to launch a new series of screenings that you can enjoy from the comfort of your homes.

Shorts at Home will launch in May and will bring you free screenings of short films (some previously featured at OCanFilmFest, courtesy of our filmmaker alumni). These films will be available to stream at home for a 24-hour period via Vimeo’s VOD platform. Vimeo is free to join.

Follow us there at vimeo.com/ocanfilmfest if you have an account.

Stay tuned and stay safe.
