Our call for submissions for #OCanFilmFest2019 has now closed. We are impressed and a little overwhelmed at the response (in the best possible way) and are looking forward to checking out what you have been working on. Watch for the program of selected films in early September. Screenings take place on November 1 and 2 at Arts Court.
We are pleased to announce that OCanFilmFest has joined SAW Video as an Organizational Producing Member.
SAW Video is a not-for-profit, artist-run media art centre that fosters the growth and development of artists through access to equipment, training, mentorship, and programming. SAW Video has been a sponsor of OCanFilmFest since its inception and we look forward to collaborating on ongoing and future initiatives.
We are pleased to announce that we are expanding our festival to two days and that we will be returning to the Arts Court Theatre (2 Daly Avenue). Screenings for this year’s festival will take place on Friday November 1st and Saturday November 2nd. Mark your Calendars! #OCanFilmFest2019
We are kicking off our new series of free short film screenings on Saturday February 2nd with a presentation of the short film Secret War at SAWVideo‘s Knot Project Space (2 Daly Avenue) at 6pm.
Secret War follows the emotional journey of two veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Mental illness is a growing issue in the military as suicide has taken more lives than the war Afghanistan. The War Horse Project uses equine therapy to help soldiers find peace and maybe a companion along the way. Shannon Lough, Emanuela Campanella, Sarah Turnbull and Fangliang Xu were students at the School of Journalism at Carleton University when then created the film in 2015. The film was an Official Selection at the Yorkton Film Festival that year.
OCanFilmFest thanks SAWVideo for collaborating on this event. Facebook Event.
